Republican Hyssy Fit

For weeks now the Republican mantra has been—”President Obama Can’t Run On His Record”—insinuating that his record as president is worthless.

BUT, when President Obama runs an ad about his record, taking credit for and touting his tough decision to kill Osama bin Laden— Republicans have an absolute hyssy fit!  The Mitt Romney camp cries that the president is using the death of Osama bin Laden as a wedge issue.  What?!  Didn’t the whole country want Bin Laden dead?

I think these hyssy fits will continue because President Obama will run on his record and the Republicans can’t take it!

Why Are We Listening To Paul Ryan?

His budget is not a serious plan for the future.

All the Republicans have been talking about for over three years is the deficit, the deficit, the deficit.  Republican Congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin, considered a budget wizard, has outlined a plan (The Path to American Prosperity) that decreases revenues, by giving $4.6 trillion in tax cuts to wealthy individuals over the next decade (these cuts do not  include the continuation of the Bush Tax Cuts, which he also supports!)—- thereby increasing the deficit!

The Ryan Plan also increases defense spending, while cutting medicare,medicaid, health care and children’s programs—decimating the safety net. It drastically cuts education and transportation infrastructure funds as well.

Mitt Romney supports the Ryan Plan.   A major reason not to vote for him.

The Real Trojan Horse

Right Wing Republicans are cowards, hiding behind the American Flag and the Christian Cross.  What else can you say about politicians who support the NRA’s hate-filled agenda (guns for everyone anywhere anytime including assault weapons)— support violence against women by refusing to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act—refuse to support a woman’s choice, but vote down bills that help children in poverty—support tax policies that hurt low and middle income families especially children—refuse to take away oil subsidies to lower the national debt, but support war as a first response—want to eliminate EPA and gut The Clean Water Act and The Clean Air Act—want to  privatize education and the post office.

As they pledge their allegiance to God and the American Flag, these same politicians are vicious in their denial of equal rights for gays and lesbians, immigrants, minorities, women and anyone who would get in the way of corporate profits and their power. Hey! they don’t even support health care for the uninsured, they support insurance companies instead!

Their biggest coup has been to tap into the virulent racism that still exists in the United States— the day President Obama was sworn into office. “We want our country back,” their followers scream.  I ask—back from who?!

These people are not Christians, they are heretics, whose real agenda is corporate greed and the ability to control  women and minorities, as the shout freedom, freedom, freedom!  Mitt Romney decided to go along with these policies to win the nomination and he cannot be forgiven for that.

I predict that the United States is better than this and that President Obama will win reelection— maybe even in a landslide.

One Lucky Lady

Ann Romney had the ability to be a “stay at home mom” and raise her 5 boys without worrying a whit about paying the bills.  She had access to the best health care when she was diagnosed with MS and breast cancer. And her husband even bought her horses to ride as therapy for her MS.  She really is lucky.

The real problem with Mrs. Romney’s outrage over Ms. Rosen’s statement “that she didn’t work a day in her life” is that she doesn’t support programs that would help other women, without means,  to stay home to raise their children. Low income mothers are forced into the work force in order to collect needed welfare.  Many times leaving their children in day care situations that are inadequate and sometimes dangerous. She believes they should have the “dignity of work.”

Mrs. Romney supports her husband’s ridiculous claim that he will repeal the Affordable Care Act if elected president— thereby taking away millions of people’s chance to finally have health care.

She supports her husband’s mission to cut all federal funding for Planned Parenthood!

Mrs. Romney supports her husband’s tax policies which would lower taxes for her family on the backs of low and middle income families.

So when I listen to Ann Romney go on and on and on, I can’t help but feel it’s a phony outrage—since there isn’t one thing the Romney Campaign is suggesting that will help women and Mrs. Romney seems to think that’s just fine.

The NRA wants to create a nation where disputes are settled by guns instead of gavels, and where suspects are shot by civilians instead of arrested by police…

They are interested in pushing a political ideology, not protecting public safety—and nowhere is that more evident than in the NRA’s advocacy for “Stand Your Ground” laws.

The killing of Trayvon Martin has shone a spotlight on these laws, which are more accurately called “Shoot First” laws, because they allow people to shoot first and ask questions later. But no matter what happens in the trial of George Zimmerman, this much we already know: these laws are making our country less safe.

Oh My! Governor Christie Calls Americans Couch Potatoes

That’s hysterical! It’s like the pot calling the kettle black.

Of course he then continues to degrade people who depend on welfare.  He also gives his opinion on the American state of mind—“I think it’s really simple. It’s because government’s now telling them ‘stop dreaming, stop striving, we’ll take care of you.’ We’re turning into a paternalistic entitlement society”.

What an insult!  All Americans I know are striving, dreaming of a better future and working hard to get there.

Hey! Governor, take a walk. It’ll be healthy for you and for New Jersey.

Governor Christie Is Such A Sanctimonious Bully

Oh, he’s going to save New Jersey taxpayers so much money!  He’s such a fiscally responsible governor!  BUT, he certainly has not lowered NJ property taxes!  He has gotten a lot of publicity for attacking teachers, but the police in NJ cost the taxpayers loads of money with the perks they receive and he hasn’t mentioned a word about tackling that problem—is the bully afraid?

He’s big on redirecting money to help  his budget shortfalls–-he has diverted well over $500M from NJ’s Clean Energy Fund , bascially gutting the program.  Now we find out that Mr. Chrisie has diverted  $4billion  from Hudson River tunnel fund into the depleted transportation fund—this after his outrageous decision not to approve the project. Costing NJ thousands of jobs!  A new report reveals that Chrities exaggerated the costs to the state for the building of the tunnel.

Cancelling the tunnel, then the largest public works project in the nation, helped shape Mr. Christie’s profile as a rising Republican star, an enforcer of fiscal discipline in a country drunk on debt. But the report is likely to revive criticism that his decision, which he said was about “hard choices” in tough economic times, was more about avoiding the need to raise the state’s gasoline tax, which would have violated a campaign promise. The governor subsequently steered $4 billion earmarked for the tunnel to the state’s near-bankrupt transportation trust fund, traditionally financed by the gasoline tax…

On the other had Mr. Christie has awarded mega tax breaks for corporations under the guise that they will be “job creators” (love that Republican mantra).

Since taking office in 2010, Gov. Chris Christie has approved a record $1.57 billion in state tax breaks for dozens of New Jersey’s largest companies after they pledged to add jobs. Mr. Christie has emphasized that these are prudent measures intended to help heal the state’s economy, which lost more than 260,000 jobs in the recession. The companies often received the tax breaks after they threatened to move to New York or elsewhere.

Despite Mr. Christie’s efforts, New Jersey has recovered only 20 percent, or 51,500, of the 261,000 jobs lost during the recession, compared with 80 percent in New York City…

…the state provided $261.4 million in tax incentives for the Revel casino in Atlantic City, where the gambling industry’s revenues have fallen sharply. And it plans to give a total of $650 million in public financing for a twice-failed entertainment and retail complex in the Meadowlands…

Mr. Christie is not fiscally responsible he robs Peter to pay Paul and NJ is going to pay the price by being a state that is stagnating  in the 20th century with a Governor that has no progressive vision for the future.

And by the way, it looks like he is also out to gut the Highlands Act, which protects NJ’s precious water supply.  More on that in another post.

THE recent remark by Mitt Romney’s senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom that upon clinching the Republican nomination Mr. Romney could change his political views “like an Etch A Sketch” has already become notorious. The comment seemed all too apt, an apparent admission by a campaign insider of two widely held suspicions about Mitt Romney: that he is a) utterly devoid of any ideological convictions and b) filled with aluminum powder.

What does all this bode for the general election? By this point it won’t surprise you to learn the answer is, “We don’t know.” Because according to the latest theories, the “Mitt Romney” who seems poised to be the Republican nominee is but one of countless Mitt Romneys, each occupying his own cosmos, each supporting a different platform, each being compared to a different beloved children’s toy but all of them equally real, all of them equally valid and all of them running for president at the same time, in their own alternative Romnealities, somewhere in the vast Romniverse.

And all of them losing to Barack Obama.

Instead of standing up for women’s choice and a women’s right, as part of her health care plan, to obtain free access to contraception—these women with only 5 children among them (Ms. Ingraham’s 2 children are adopted)—have the nerve to spin the Republican’s “War On Women” and insist it doesn’t exist.

The ability of women to space their children or even to decide not to have children is the foremost reason women have become such a positive  force in today’s workplace.  It is more than likely that these successful women have used birth control.  Luckily, they make a lot of money as GOP spin mavens so they can afford to purchase their own contraception and hire nannies—not every woman has that ability.

Pompous Ms. Noonan, a supposed devote Catholic,  has only one child. Abstinence?
